Who Am I
I’m Rudy Lacayo — an executive coach, transformation leader, and first‑generation Latino who has spent 25+ years helping leaders navigate the moments that define their careers.
I’ve coached and advised leaders at AWS, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Edison, Medtronic and Federal Reserve Bank, among other companies. I’ve sat in the rooms where decisions shape organizations — and I know the pressure, the expectations, and the quiet weight leaders carry.
But more importantly: I know what it feels like to lead without a roadmap.
My Story
I grew up learning how to navigate two worlds — the one I came from and the one I was determined to build. As a first‑generation Latino leader, I didn’t inherit a roadmap. I had to create one through grit, curiosity, and a belief that possibility expands when you step toward it.
That journey shaped everything about how I lead and how I coach.
With decades of corporate, consulting and non-profit experience, I’ve moved through rooms where expectations were high, stakes were real, and the margin for error felt razor thin. I’ve been the consultant solving complex organizational challenges, the operator leading People Transformation at AWS during the rise of AI, and the executive coach supporting leaders through the moments that define their careers.
Each chapter taught me a truth I carry into every coaching conversation:
Leadership isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about staying centered when the stakes rise.
I know what it feels like to be the first, the only, or the one everyone is counting on. I know what it feels like to succeed on paper while questioning your next step internally. And I know the power of having a thought partner who sees you clearly — not just your role, but your potential.
That’s why I coach. Because leaders deserve a space where they can think, breathe, and grow without judgment. A space where clarity replaces noise. A space where identity and ambition can coexist.

What It's Like To Work With Me
I Expect Your Best
If you are hiring me, then you are probably ready to do and be your best. If you are having a challenge with doing your best, I will look at what is in the way, and then help you to get back on to your path.
I Make Direct Requests
From time to time, I will make a direct request, like “Will you accomplish X by the end of the month?” You may accept the request, counter-offer (say what you can do) or decline (rare). Your choice is the right one for you at the time.
I Speak The Truth
I will ask at times if it is okay to make specific suggestions on how to handle a problem or “go-for” an opportunity. Honesty is one of my values--I am straight and expect the same from you. My suggestions and/or advice are simply ways to brainstorm alternatives and as always are open for discussion. The ultimate decision is always yours to make.
I Don’t Step Over Much
When I hear a funny tone in your voice, or notice something amiss, I will ask you about it. Often, it is these small moments that offer the chance to resolve something. However, I don’t confront or push; I will merely invite you to look at something.
I Give Homework
I usually ask that the client come up with two or three goals, actions or breakthroughs to have between one call and the next. If it is too much, say so. If you want more, just ask.
I Am Here
I want to hear it all. If you have a personal problem, are upset with something (even the coaching process or me), are just starting to realize something big, want to share a breakthrough, call or e-mail me.
